Acupuncture and the NADA protocol to quit smoking or for any addiction
How does Acupuncture help me stop smoking or with any addiction?
Acupuncture is successful with smoking cessation and has helped many cigarette smokers into permanent non-smokers. It also has helped many patients with food or drug addictions. Acupuncture (specifically Auricular acupuncture) help with stress, jitters, cravings, irritability and restlessness; all symptoms that people often complain about when they quit. It also relaxes and detoxifies.
How many treatments do I need in order to stop smoking?
The number of treatments will vary with each individual. But in general a stop smoking program will often take 4 to 6 treatments scheduled twice a week. And depending on the patient, he/she may require monthly treatments for a few months.
What is the NADA protocol?
At five designated ear points in each auricle (outer ear), clinicians trained through NADA (National Acupuncture Detoxification Association) apply fine gauge, sterilized, one-time use stainless steel needles just under the skin, where they remain for up to an hour while the client (in most circumstances) relaxes quietly in a comfortable chair. Among the benefits reported by clients and clinicians are improved program retention, a more optimistic and cooperative attitude toward the process of recovery, as well as reductions in cravings, anxiety, sleep disturbance and need for pharmaceuticals. It is designed for any addiction: smoking, drugs, food...The NADA protocol is also known commonly referred to as: acu detox, acupuncture detoxification, five point ear acupuncture protocol, five point protocol.

- Eat plenty of fresh fruit and vegetable to help detoxify the blood.
- Stay away from junk food, sweets and starchy foods such as white bread, white pasta and white flour.
